Considering the problem commuters have to face while waiting for buses/trains at stations, Nisha Chaube, a student of Galgotias college of engineering and technology prototyped a lightweight folding seats in traveling bags so that the same can be used when needed. She hails from Uttar Pradesh and has been recognized for her achievements by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam,Mrs Pratibha Patil and Shri Pranab Mukherjee. She created a prototype of her idea, engaged multiple design firms for creating an aesthetic and marketable product based on her idea. After making six prototypes, the final version is now ready. National innovation foundation has also filed an application for design registration in her name. It is hoped that her idea would soon be seen in the market as a product.The Biennial National Grassroots Innovation Awards, held in Mughal Garden, went into its seventh round on 7th march 2013. The event was graced by the presence of, Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Nisha Chaube was felicitated by a state award. The President pointed out that we are in a decade of innovation that needs prudent solutions to persistent problems. The Union Minister of Science and Technology Shri S Jaipal Reddy praised the extraordinary achievements by grassroot innovators.
