The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities plays an essential part in academics at Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology. The department provides the foundation for students to gain Engineering knowledge, skills of social and human values and professional communication. The Department gives a platform for students to gain theoretical knowledge in core sciences like Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry and also imparts students to have practical knowledge, communication skills and human behavior in developing their overall personality. Highly educated and experienced faculty is the strength of the department. Most of the faculty members are doctorates having done their research in a wide variety of fields including advanced scientific and technological topics. The students are guided and motivated to handle scientific instruments in the well equipped laboratories of Physics, Chemistry and English.
Dr. Rajesh Tripathi is the head of the department. He has done his Ph.D. from IIT Delhi. He has 12 years of experience in teaching and research. His research interest is in the areas of Solar Thermal, Heat and Mass Transfer and Green House Technology. He has published 15 research papers in International/National Journals/Conferences of repute. He is also a reviewer of two International Journals and has reviewed 22 papers. He is also guiding a research scholar for Ph.D.
The subjects offered by department includes, but not limited to, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, Engineering Mathematics, Professional Communication, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Sociology, Industrial Psychology, Human Values and Professional Ethics, Nanotechnology, Laser, Discrete Mathematics, Computer based optimization techniques, Probability statistics and queing model, Numerical methods and operation research.The department organizes conferences, seminars and workshops, related to recent developments in applied sciences and their applications in improving the technology, from time to time. The department is organizing a national seminar on Interdisciplinary approach of Science in Advancement of Technology : Art of Human Welfare in the month of October, 2015 funded by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
