The Department is headed by Prof. S. R. Prasad having Master of Engineering degree with specialization in solid mechanics. He has a vast teaching experience of more than forty two (42) years in a a highly reputed Government Institute (BIT, Sindri) in combined State of Bihar and Jharkhand with brief and valuable industrial experiene at the start. He is a life member of ISTE and Fellow member of the Institution of Engineers (India). for the last two years he is in the NCR and rendering his valuable guidance as a Resource Professor for Faculty Development Program being organized by various Institutes under UP Technical University.

The thrust of the department is in exciting the minds of its students. It lays great emphasis on practical hands-on work of and innovative nature.Having established itself as one of the best Mechanical Engineering departments in UPTU, attempts are now being made to start and M.Tech. programme for which appropriate approvals are awaited. The department has already received applications from aspiring research scholars for doing Ph.D. work.
